Second Day Frizz....

I've worked out a couple first day routines that seem to work for me, but I usually wake up on the second day with a tangled mess of flat curls. My current routine is to partially re-wet my hair with a spray bottle, scrunch out the water with a t-shirt, and then scrunch in a small amount of gel (LA Looks Sport)-- doing this, I get tighter curls than I do on Day 1, but I also end up with a pretty serious frizz halo. I've tried smoothing down the frizz with water, curl cream, or extra gel, but nothing seems to help. My DH usually tells me I'm being paranoid when I stress over how my hair looks, but even he's been commenting that my hair looks messy because of all the frizz.

Any tips on how I can change my routine to prevent and/or get rid of the frizz?
waves, loose coils, and cherub curls (=mixed 2s through 3a), very fine texture overall (but with medium and even coarse strands scattered throughout)

I've started doing my hair at nights to save time in the mornings and most mornings I do have some frizz. What I did today that worked not bad was to wet my hands and then put a blob of gel (I used fsg) and rubbed my hands together then scrunched in from the underneath of my hair so I didn't touch too much of the surface - it was more my fingers popping through from underneath. I found this did help me in reducing overnight frizz and also didn't add any more through too much touching.

You're probably messing with it too much.

I use a satin sleep cap which gives me almost zero frizz in the AM. Then I spritz with a 50-50 mix of water and aloe vera gel (just the cheap drugstore stuff). I GENTLY scrunch it in, upside down, maybe 5-10 scrunches. When I put my head back upright, I smooth over any halo frizz with Darcy Botanicals Peach Kernel Milk. I'm talking a dime-sized puddle, emulsified, and smoothed over just once. Then I don't touch my hair.

My SDH looks better than my FDH with this method.

    My current HGs:
Co-wash: Suave Naturals Coconut, VO5 Strawberries & Cream
    Conditioner: Deva OneC
    Leave-in: Shea M, Deva B'Leave In
    Cremes: CIAB, pink Boots
    Gels: BRHG

CG since 2/07 and loving it!
