Spinoff: How many foreign countries have you visited?

susususu Posts: 767Registered Users
I noticed from the "around the globe" thread that we have a lot of world travelers on this site.

Which foreign countries have you visited and/or lived in? And of those destinations, which one(s) would you say is a must-see?

This was just for a few hours during a layover, but I got to walk through the city a bit and visit the cathedral. The cathedral has a really dramatic baroque pulpit. The base shows depicting Adam and Eve cast out of Eden by the angel and toward death, while Mary and a toddler Jesus are on the "roof," I guess to represent the new "Eve" and "Adam" conquering death. Wikipedia has a good picture of the base. (Make sure to expand it -- it's a huge photo!) It's kind of hard to make out, but a skeleton representing death is clinging to the tree toward the right-hand side, and is reaching toward Adam and Eve with its left hand. I know the point of this thread is to just give a list, but I think the pulpit looks really cool :)

*whistles at some of the lists*

    I've been to

    (1) The US

    (2) Cambodia- Recommend: Everything was so cheap! but I felt sad on some days because the poverty is everywhere :(
Korea: Recommend: Jeju, is a tiny island off the coast of Korea. It's called the "honeymoon island" and it's where newly married Korean couples go to learn abt.....stuff.

    (3) The Philippines

    (4) Japan (currently living here)

Next stop....Fiji (maybe, if not, Australia or NZ)
I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.

I don't remember which other Caribbean spot my cruise ships stopped since we always missed a port, and the trips weren't about the ports anyway.

My favorites among the places I've been are Montreal, Frankfurt and Florence. The disclaimer with Italy is that I was there in January, so didn't have the possibly oppressive tourist crowds that can happen there.

Only one. :( Canada (Quebec City and Montreal) - I loved it though!

This summer, as most of you have probably figured out, I'm going to Cambodia. I'm so excited! And next Spring, if it works out (which it may not!), I could possibly be going to Barcelona.

I'm so jealous of all of you who have such long lists. I'm going to make it my goal to get my list half as long as that. :)
