Overnight Routines?

Hi everyone, I am new to these boards :)

I will try to get a pic up but I think I am a 2c/3a (after my hair is relaxed). I get my hair relaxed two or three times a year.

My big question:

What does everyone do with their hair overnight, or what do you do to (re)style it in the morning?

I usually wash, condition, and style my hair in the mornings. It will look decent all day, but then I go to bed. When I get up in the morning, my hair is pretty frizzy, dry, flat curls/waves and definitely not cute. I then end up wearing my hair in a sloppy ponytail for the next two days until I wash my hair again.

Do you guys re-do your hair every morning? Like, re-wetting, conditioning, products, etc. ? I've tried this before and my hair just ended up looking greasy. Or is there some thing to do with your hair overnight, like a scarf or something? I'm just not sure what to do and am looking for suggestions and wondering what other 2c's do.

A lot of people on the board swear by the satin or silk pillowcase (satin is cheaper). It has less friction than other materials which helps cut down on frizz. I use one, and it seems to help. I could never get used to wearing a satin nightcap, which I tried--my head got too warm.

It also seems to help me if I use a strong hold gel because I always wash my hair the night before work. Right now I use Herbal Essences Set Me Up gel over [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]AG recoil[/buylink] and CurlKeeper.

I wear my hair in a low, loose ponytail at night, which works for me. In the morning I put some Set it Free (10 sprays) or Garnier Fructis Leave in Conditioner on my hands and smooth it over the surface of my hair and then scrunch. Some people put their hair up in a loose ponytail on top of their head (they call it a pineapple!) HTH :)

I wash my hair and put in all the products at night. Then I gather it into a tight granny bun on the top of my head and sleep with it like that! In the morning it is still wet, but it is all formed nicely when you take it down, and dries fairly fast. If its a bit fuzzy, I just add a dab of mousse. Then for the next night, I wear it in the pinneapple so its still good for another day without washing! (altho it is not as glossy, but still curly)

    Welcome to the forum!

Let's see: I always do my washing and styling at night, so if it's a washing night, I usually just sleep with my hair fanned up over the pillowcase. (I did get a satin pillowcase.) I generally diffuse my hair dry first, but if it's even a bit damp I don't dare put it in a pineapple or it'll dry in some seriously odd configurations. If it's not a washing night, I'll just put it up in a pineapple and clip up any loose sections that fall free.

Whatever I do, the next morning after I take my hair down I'll rub a little bit of Sebastian Potion #9 in my palms and smooth it over my hair to tame any wildness, followed by a few sprays of either Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel or Jessicurl Awe-Inspiralling Spray that I scrunch in. That's generally enough to get my hair looking presentable again.

Hi Lost Curls! My hair looks a lot like yours (though mine is not relaxed) so I hope my advice helps!

I only wash my hair at night, and go to bed w/ it damp, fanned on top of my pillow. I try to avoid a diffuser b/c my hair looks better when air dried. I'm into devacurl products at the moment, so I usually leave some of the OC in my hair and then use Angell. On nights I don't wash, I still keep my hair on the pillow.

In the morning, I usually use some sort of mosturizing spray to shape/reshape my curls. Right now I'm using Mist-er Right, but I've also used Dove Sheer Moisture, Pantene's curl-enhancer stuff or just my fav conditioner mixed w/ water in a spray bottle. I don't know if those have cones or whatever in them, but you may want to give them a try! I just lightly spray my hair w/ whatever and scrunch a little bit, and my curls spring back. Then I let it airdry on my way to work!
