Oils and color?

I've heard that oils are bad for maintaining color. I just went red and I love it, but my hair looooves coconut oil. I'm afraid to use it in case it might fade my color, but I really need some kind of DT.

Will using coconut oil fade my color?
Any suggestions for non oil DTs? (I'm a broke college student so preferably cheap)

Using oils as a light dress or as an occasional DT won't hurt your color. Applying massive amounts of oil, with some regularity -- especially immediately after a color process -- can fade it a skosh.

That said, red is haaaa-a-a-a-a-ard to maintain, regardless.
