Fly away mess.

Hi! I have been trying to go CG for about a month now. I have had random success. My hair is not dry has normal porosity, but is very fine. God forbid it's windy. No poo works fine, but I can't find anything that hods my style. Tried Angel, [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-Arc-AnGell-p-567.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-arc-angell]Arc Angel[/buylink], LALSG, and HETT gel. Finish with Deva set up and above. Hair is too soft. Any suggestions. Thanks. Think I am a 2a.

I love BRHG. It has a super hard hold. Other hard hold gels include Spiral Solutions FHG, HE SMU, & CHI.

I wanted to thank you for the suggestions. I also read the thread on Ecostyler. I tried the ecostyler with the HESMU gel this morning. Hair is not as fly away, however I think I used to much ecostyler. What amount do you use - pea size, dime size, quarter size, palm full. I am really new at this. I was using alot of Angel and [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-Arc-AnGell-p-567.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-arc-angell]Arc Angel[/buylink]. Thanks. I will try to post some pictures soon.

Unfortunately the amount of product you need is highly individual. The only way to know for sure is to experiment. I'd guess most people use between a dime size and a palm full of ecostyler. I need a lot of product.
I use about 2 tsp (maybe more) of ecostyler. I pixie diffuse halfway, wet my hands, and then add about 2 tsp of brhg and finish pixie diffusing.

I use 2 pea sizes i spread it all over my hands and then scrunch... I use the 2 pea sizes individually inbetween a pea size of condish...

I use a ton of product, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt, but I use about a palmful of Ecostyler over [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle-p-995.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle]CIAB[/buylink] (probably about two teaspoons worth?) and under BRHG or HESMU (about a quarter sized of each).

I'm pretty porous though, and my curl pattern needs the hold or it pulls out while getting large and in charge (especially in the higher dews).

I used to (and to some extent still) struggle with the same issues. I've found, though, that my hair has begun to hold it's style better the longer I'm CG. I think my hair was initially having trouble keeping its shape because it wasn't moisturized enough. Now, when I feel my hair is fuzzing out, I do a protein treatment and/or deep condition and that seems to really help.

Also, I've found that I generally need to use a lot more product than I would expect and that gels with stiff hold give me the best curls. People tend to assume that wavies would need less product than people with really curly hair, but I think it's the opposite-- Curly hair has a strong pattern and naturally keeps itself in a coil, but wavy hair needs lots of help to hold its shape. I really like Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping spray gel-- it gives me good hold without weighing my hair down. I usually use it as a finisher after I've applied a light/watery gel and/or a curl cream.
waves, loose coils, and cherub curls (=mixed 2s through 3a), very fine texture overall (but with medium and even coarse strands scattered throughout)

Thanks every one. I guess I just have to keep experimenting. My hair was definitely better yesterday. I even woke up with some curl, odd for me. I will keep you posted.
