CG cut and FSG!

After being CG for 2 weeks I, on a whim today, got my hair cut. I searched and actually found 2 deva salons here in Wooster, Oh. I went to Kaliedoscopes and got it done. One girl was supposed to do it, but she's only done a couple of CG cuts and didn't feel comfortable doing it. So, one of the other girls there did it. She did the training and trained the other girls there on it. It was great! As she was cutting, she actually explained what she was doing. While she was working on someone else, she asked me what products I used and instructed me on things I didn't yet know about(like ribboning.) I really like the cut. She shaped it up without really taking anything from the length at all! I was really eager to try the Deva products. They used the no poo and one conditioner(or whatever it's called.) I really like the smell of both. They also used anGel(not the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-Arc-AnGell-p-567.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-arc-angell]arc angel[/buylink] one.) Afterwards, my hair had ok curls, but not great. I don't know if I like the deva products much at all. So, I came home and bought some Flax Seeds to make me some FSG.
I did my usual routine of Sauve Naturals, Aldi's conditioning balm as a condish and then used my FSG, plopped for about 30-45 minutes, pixie curl diffused then air dried. Alot of my waves(I had no idea what my curl type was, she said I was a wavy but had some botticelli curls starting to form.) After the FSG, I think I had more botticelli type curls than before! I really think that the FSG is going to be a keeper! I don't think I used enough as I was just playing around right now. I'll try more in the morning after I shower and see how it goes!

She asked if I had seen the you tube videos on ribboning. They showed me how to do it...basically just take small sections of hair and smooth your conditioner down the length of it to help smooth the cuticle.

Is that to help with clumping? Hmmmph...guess I'll go look it up.

ETA: Couldn't find anything under hair ribboning or anything that I thought it might be under.

I just tried to look up ribboning and can't find anything either. I wonder if it's something they discuss at the training? They had the curly girl book there and I browsed through it while I was there, but I can't recall if they talked about ribboninig in the book or not...
I think it's to more so help with smoothing the hair. the girl that did my wash said it helps to lay the cuticle down. But, I imagine it would help with clumping as well.

Unless there's a new book, no ribboning in the original CG book. It doesn't really have a lot of useful information. If you want to buy a book with a lot of useful information, Struttswife's (aka Tiffany) has a great ebook. It's available on her website: /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.livecurlylivefree.com%2F" class="Popup
