Rinse out a Leave-In Conditioner - Okay to do that?

Do you think it's pointless or okay to use a leave-in conditioner as a rinse-out conditioner? Do you think a conditioner would still be effective if you rinse it out, even though it was designed to be left in?

I hope that's not a stupid question. I'm just wondering if leave-in conditioners are more flexible than I realize, and I'm wondering if some leave-in conditioners that were flops for me in the past may work well if I just use them as rinse-outs.

I dont think its dumb. I actually tried it using GDLI (which is a little on the thick side to me) and it worked out fine. I think that especially if you have fine hair that heavier conditioners may be too much for co-washes and that using something of a lighter formulation may be appropriate.

Try it and see if your hair likes it. There are no hard/fast rules. :):dj:

Leave-in conditioners are just regular conditioner diluted to a lighter consistency. Most conditioners labeled as a “leave-in” cost more then the regular formula.

+1 Leave ins are just watered down normal conditioners; some aren't even watered down! Makes no difference - I've used leave-ins as my rinse-out and rinse-outs as my leave-in. Conditioner is conditioner, choose based on what you need for your hair, not the label on the bottle. :-)

Okay, so I rinsed out my leave-in conditioner this morning and guess what? I didn't grow another head and I didn't die, so all is well. :thumright: Joking aside, it worked out fine and I'm enjoying a good hair day today - good slip, good shine and curl definition.

In case your curious, I used [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/MOP-Leave-in-Conditioner-p-929.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=MOP-Leave-In-Conditioner]Mop Leave-In Conditioner[/buylink] (as in Modern Organic Products, NOT Mop Top). I think rinsing out that conditioner is a good option for those who might get weighed down if they just left it in. It does say on their Web site that you can rinse this stuff out if you want a "finer style," so that does answer my original question. Anyway, from now on if a leave-in doesn't work for me, I'll try it as a rinse out before I toss it.

    Thanks, guys!
