Just curious!

I've been a lurker for a long time, and finally decided to try going cg towards the end of Jan. It didn't really work out, and I have happily switched back to sulfate shampoos and lots of cones. I was just wondering if anyone else had poor results with cg, since I feel like the only one! ^_^

I am now CG again and am taking it more slowly ... only trying new products one at a time.
Many people say CG isn't for them. You have to use what is good for you.
2c/3a: Fine, Thin, High Porosity; very fragile.
Currently Using:

CoWash Cleansing: Tresemme Naturals or Giovanni TTTT

Which products with cones are you using? I may go back to that over the summer so I'd like recommendations.
Highly porous. Color over grey.

I'm not CG - tried it and failed for two years. My scalp hates it.
Me, I want a way to have my own hair look good and be healthy, but also have a shape and look I like. I am new to this (4 mos), but I do see an improvement in my hair just being more aware of conditioning.
However, I live in a very humid subtropical climate, and I don't know if I will handle the hot months well. If I can't get my hair to have some sort of appealing shape by being CG, I will modify or ditch as needed. Seriously, I'm not about being faithful to ANY method, but about trying to see how I can have my natural hair type/texture be benefitted WHILE ALSO having hair I find attractive.
I have not found yet an optimal style for my curls. But I have learned how to improve the look of my natural curls by the tips and product reviews here on NC.
I think if it was easier to find local curl styling experts, life would be so much easier. I can buy all the best products and have great technique at home, but a bad cut can ruin all that, ya know? It's a synergy.
I don't like flat top hair, and for me, the biggest challenge has been keeping properly moisturized and setting free my natural hair WHILE trying to get and keep height and volume (which suits me better, aesthetically). That's my particular challenge, but it was also my challenge when I had blown-out hair. This way, I'm not burning the heck out of my hair with irons and dryers and masquerading the damage with cones.
This summer will be my CG crucible. We shall see...
Natural since 11/25/09
