Is That A Weave???

I don't know about other people, but I get asked if my hair is a weave constantly-- especially when it was long. There was a time where it was pretty much a given that if I entered a crowded public place I'd get asked by at least half a dozen strangers a day. A friend of mine always gets insulted for me, but I just understand how hard a good weave is to find (finding natural extensions is a nightmare for me) and I'm just so damn used to it! lol
People even insist I show them my roots. :dontknow:

Does this happen to anyone else?

OMG yesss!!! All the freaking time. People always stop and ask me if my hair is a weave. Then when I usually smile and tell them it is my real hair then they look at me incredulously and reply with "you have good hair"....really irritates me because its not that I have "good" hair..its that I take the time and effort to make it healthy.Or they ask me if I'm mixed or something which happens more when I straighten my hair which happens on a rare occasion.. ironic because my family is fresh off the boat east african so I'm as ethnic as it can get.

aaaand I also get those random people who think its ok to touch my hair without asking...I'm not a zoo animal!

Yes it has! Back when I was natural in HS (newly transitioning), and I used to occasionally straighten my hair, all of the girls used to ask if it was a weave. Even the African American girls would rub on my roots just to be sure I wasn't lying. It kind of pissed me off because who gave you permission to rub your fingers on my head?

lol during my mom's doctor appointment the other day, one of the nurses asked "is that all your hair?"
thankfully, she didn't say it in a rude way..

Omg, I hate when random people touch my hair!!
People used to do it all the time when I was little (they apparently also used to ask my mom when I was really little if she permed my hair... lol), and my hatred of it has kind of stuck with me to the point where I don't let anybody touch/play with my hair. My boyfriend's the only one who's allowed to... I've told him he should realise he's lucky. :P

    Welcome to my world! :banghead:

I got the weave questions when I was relaxed, and now that I'm curly, you'd think I'd grown another head the way some people look at me when I say that this is my natural curl pattern!

Happens to me every now and then! But it's always "i love your hair! Is that a weave?!" and if they aren't listening to what I say, they ask where I got it...

Sometimes people ask me if it is real. A few times people asked if it was a wig. Sometimes people ask if I extensions...not that much thought. People do ask if it natural alot though. I guess they think I perm it or something.

Also, my older sister told me that when I use a diffuser and make my hair really realy big it looks like it is extensions.

This is funny..i have a friend with curly hair too and she was talking about getting extensions. I was like why? People get them to look like us. lol..sorry if I am being conceided.
