Curl Junkie Curl Rehab...is it worth it?

EllyEllyOxenFreeEllyEllyOxenFree Posts: 6,446Registered Users
So I just got my Curl Junkie products, and I am very pleased! I need to play with them a little more, but I like them. Marsha suggested that I use the Curl Rehab as my leave-in rather than the Smoothing condish, but sheesh, that stuff is $20 for 8oz! That is a LOT! Have any of you ladies indulged? If so, did you love it?

I haven't tried doing that yet though Marsha suggested that to me as well. Hmm.. I'm curious to see the results of this as well. Her suggestion was CR/CJAF, even tho I can use CJAF alone.

    I'm feeling you on 8oz for $20... ouchies!:sad1:

I have re-ordered this to try as a leave-in. Before I used it as a rinse out and it was really detangling and left my hair soft.

I love the Curl Rehab. I usually stock up on it when she has a sale because I don't like to run out either. One jar lasts me for quite a while.

I LOVE CJRehab! I use it as a DT, leave in and occasionally as a rinse out. I find that the jar does last me quite a while despite all the uses I have for it. A small amount seems to go a long way and I have a ton of hair.

Exactly! And another big plus for me is that it's protein-free. I just wish she would come out with a 16 oz size.

runnerchicki, it sure is!!! if it goes in or on your body, wouldn't you want quality? i do!

jusduit, it would be WONDERFUL if it came in a 16 oz jar, id be all on that. but you know there are some folks that would still go "WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH?!?!" maybe if enough people would purchase larger sizes marsha could do it. hmmmm...:D

i would want a supersized bottle of the curl fix! omg my hair loooves that stuff

I haven't used mine yet but I'm loving all my curl junkie products. That Beauti Curls leave in is pretty good as is the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Daily-Hair-Conditioner-p-938.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Daily-Hair-Conditioner]curl assurance daily hair conditioner[/buylink].

I LOVE REHAB! I have both the strawberry ice cream and the gardenia coconut scents, and I use it for deep treatments with heat and for leave-in (mostly in driest parts). I've also used it as a precondish. The stuff rocks~!

Yes, it is worth it. :)

The only non-protein deep treatment that gets my hair into better condition is the OLIVE YOU by MyHoneyChild which, though I hate the undertone scent, is utterly amazing results-wise.

    Elle!

I played with the Curl Rehab today and a little goes a LOOOOONGGGGG way (and I have a lot of hair). I tried the CR underneath and CJAF and...

I was overconditioned! Never happened to me before in my life but after reading what everyone says I knew it when I saw it. These products are not only quality/top-notch, they pack in moisture like I've never experienced as solo agents. Normally I need supporting products when I'm using other stuff but with CJ thus far I haven't.

Ri, et al- YESSSSSSSSSS I'm now wishing this stuff came in larger sizes! :icescream:

How is the gardenia coconut scent? I was thinking about getting it but from the sound it seemed like it would be too strong/florally for me. How is it to you?

gardenia coconut is heavenly. it won't knock you over and it's not too sickly sweet or artificial smelling.

It's actually a nicely done g/c scent. I thought I'd like the Strawberry better, but I was wrong. I would prefer it was even subtler, but it is nice and doesn't linger too much. It's not cloyingly horrible like the Jessicurl one.

I love CJ CR (curl rehab). I find it to be a very versatile product.

Rinse-out: I'm currently using CR as a rinse-out once or twice a week, alternating with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Smoothing-Conditioner-p-997.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Smoothing-Conditioner]CJ smoothing conditioner[/buylink].

DT: The other day I tried CR as a moisture DT, after a protein treatment (Nexxus), and it worked very well...just as well as KBB hair mask (my usual DT).

Leave-in: I never use a leave-in under curl cream (I easily get overconditioned) but CR worked well under a curl pudding (Komaza CHP) during the winter. I was surprised it wasn't too heavy for my 3A hair.

I have the strawberry scent...haven't tried the garedenia. Smells like strawberry candy - similar to Ohm SHP.
    hair type: 2B/3A
low poo: Elucence moisture; Elucence clarifying (after swimming)
condish: CJ smoothing; CJ argan; CJ repair me; CJ curl rehab
winter/spring styling: CJ Beauticurls leave-in + Curly Kinks coil jam + Ouidad mongongo oil; or CJ leave-in + SpiralSolutions CEJ & FHG
summer/fall styling: CJ CCCC lite + CIAB + Curl Queen

Although I started my CJ journey with the Daily Fix/Curl Rehab/CurlFix/[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle-p-995.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle]CIAB[/buylink] combo, I ended March and began this month with CJ CA Leave-In and Smoothing Gellie then [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle-p-995.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle]CIAB[/buylink], with CCCCLite for second day fluffing, and this stuff's still great.

Seems they don't have a sucky product (that I've tried). I am gonna order some more of the CA LI, since it's being discontinued, and some of the Daily Condish to try before it's gone.

CJ is now my main hair line, period. I have others for rotation ( I do believe in rotating products), but CJ is my default and number one. I have very nice second day hair (even hubby complimented me this morning SECONDS after I took out my pineapple, before I even got a chance to fix the night's damage). He said, "Want me to take a pic?" hah. No. I hadn't even washed my face.

I do have uploaded my hair pics from yesterday with my CJ stuff, and some other pics in my fotki for anyone who wants to see how my dry, damaged hair is making progress (though I really need to find a stylist, sigh and get a color/glaze).

Marsha is a curly hair genius. If I ever meet her in person, she better get ready to get seriously cheek-kissed by a fat, curly Cuban chica.

I know; it's true. Even when I find something of hers that I don't like, it's still never bad in my hair: just not perfect. Or I used too much of a good thing (i.e., over-conditioning from leave-in conditioner plus curl cream). Or I used a good thing but at the wrong time (i.e. [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Aloe-Fix-Hair-Styling-Gel-p-941.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Aloe-Fix-Hair-Styling-Gel]aloe fix[/buylink] gel in the winter, when my hair is glycerin-sensitive). Or I didn't know how to apply it properly (i.e., [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-CoffeeCoco-Curl-Creme-p-488.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curl-junkie-coffeecoco-curl-creme]CCCC[/buylink] before I supersoaked with it). Or it didn't give me the exact curl pattern I prefer (i.e., SG which gives me voluminous waves rather than defined curls).

But none of it has ever been bad in my hair, even in cases where a product is more ideal for a 3B, 3C or 4A.

And CJ is the only hair product line I've ever encountered where that's the case. It's funny - I keep changing my nc.com signature to add CJ products to my list of favorites. I'm definitely becoming a "curl junkie" junkie, if such a thing is possible!

It does smell just like strawberry ice cream, and that's why I kinda don't like that smell and went back to the gardenia coconut for my third jar.

If it was fresh strawberries, then okay. But the smell of ice cream in hair was too odd--milkyish. Hubby liked it, but then he's an ice cream junkie.

Got my Rehab today...haven't used it yet, but it smells AMAZING. I don't even know how she got it to smell like actual strawberry ice cream! Not artificial at all...I'm watching TV right now and smelling it, can't wait to use it. :blob8:

Yeah!! Most of this stuff makes me hungry for sweets! LOL!!

The other day my BF told me I smelled like a lemonhead candy (I was using [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Aloe-Fix-Hair-Styling-Gel-p-941.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Aloe-Fix-Hair-Styling-Gel]aloe fix[/buylink]). LOL!!

I ordered the gardenia coconut to compare the scents to prep for the 32oz coming out. Soooo excited!

I told her we need to convert Michelle Obama to da curly way. I mean, can you imagine, her and those two adorable girls going all natural for the whole f-en world to see? :D

WOW!! The Obama's going natural!? You know the media would be all OVER that!! LOL! The little one doesnt look like she has gotten creamy crack yet to me.. I see her peach fuzz all the time. :) She's my favorite daughter. Spunky lil' thing.
