First day of transition...Help?!

Hello,
I am very very new to this whole thing. I have form what I read type 4b hair. My hair has been relaxed since the summer 2009 and is probably about 6 inches long but the roots are about 1inch new growth. I have never known how to care for my hair and now that I've decided to go natural I have ABSOLUTELY NO clue what to do. Anyone have any style or product reccomendations for my type of hair/length?

This is a copy of a post that I just did 10 minutes ago. Hope it helps!

I have some really strange textures in my hair. I JUST did my BC a week or so ago. I found out a few things so here goes:
    • I cater to the drier parts of my hair. They are more likely to be damaged, so I make sure they get special care.
    • Once you BC, your hair normally looks different than it did during transitioning. I asked this question before and was told that it would shrink more.
    • MOISTURE! MOISTURE! MOISTURE!
    • Protein has its moments! I try to avoid having too much, but there are times when it might be necessary.
    • And if you do decide to BC, be prepared for a period of time that you can be a little insecure and your hair may or may not understand what you just did. I was prepared to look crazy for a week or so. I think I like it more and more each day (if that's possible).

P.S. I transitioned for 9 months with no weaves or braids. I even did a youtube showing my flat twist out.

I'm slowly going crazy over the progress of my hair... I'm content with the length but the texture is not how i want it!
