Kinky-Curly Come Clean Moisturizing Shampoo

I ordered this product through Curl Mart and I HATE IT! I am getting ready to transition to natural hair. My last relaxer was 2/23/2010. Today is March 21, 2010, so my hair is still very straight. The [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo-p-844.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo]Kinky-Curly Come Clean Moisturizing Shampoo[/buylink] stripped my hair of all moisture. Thank God I'm still straight. If my hair were more natural, it would have been a tight, dry, tangled, matted mess!
Thank goodness I ordered the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Weekly-Deep-Conditioning-Treatment-p-106.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-weekly-deep-conditioner-treatment]Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment[/buylink] at the same time. I conditioned with it after shampooing with the KCCCMS and it totally smoothed my hair out.
Be careful about ordering through Curl Mart. There is no satisfaction guarantee. I'm stuck with that $12.00 shampoo. The Curl Mart return policy says "ONLY unopened items may be returned within 7 days of receipt."
If your hair is like mine, a better moisturizing shampoo is Elucence Moisturing Shampoo. It has a peach color and thick consistency. It leaves my hair soft, moist, and easy to manipulate.
I doubt that I'll ever use another Kinky-Curly product unless I can try it out first to see if it works. I won't buy another product from Curl Mart unless it has overwhelming positive remarks, and maybe then I won't buy. I need a satisfaction guarantee.

I like it as a clarifying sort of poo, as it really does clear away anything on the hair. I use it rarely, but it is part of my rotation when I need a stronger cleanser.
Consider the swap board to exchange it for something else.

I have found even reading reviews does always work unless the reviewer has very smiliar hair and even then it isnt always 100 per cent...
I read the reviews about Curl Junkie ALOE FIX and saw several like hair types using CJAF and having great results. When I used CJAF my hair became frizzy and crunchy...
I have to say that I love the CJCR, its the strawberry on my cheesecake...
I am trying the Smoothing Gellie and CIAB...
Samples are the way to go....
If a person with porous and dry hair, medium or fine, prone to frizz raves about something, I'm prone to try it, particularly if they confess a similar styling aesthetic--I do not like flat hair on top or on sides, even if I have to sacrifice perfect clumps. I'll give up clumps for some volume-- and live in a similar climate. If they are non-porous and live in the desert and have coarse hair, their recommendations won't help me much in subtropical Miami with my porous, dry hair that frizzes up at a moment's notice.
I think one of the most helpful things people can do is post info in their siggies about hair properties and fave products, because that helps us weed out who and who will not be of use. I think climate may help, too, which I should add to mine, come to think of it.
Once I locate "hair twins" on the forum, then I try to follow what they post, especially product reviews.
For me, Curl JunKie and CIAB are great. No crunch at all. I only get some crunch if I add a harder hold gel. But if I use gels by Spiral Solutions or the BB Brulee or just more and more CIAB, no crunch at all. I do use a rinse out and leave-in condish, which helps cut down on crunch with most products.

Another tip: I find that shampoo-ing the hair is not that necessary. When washing my hair, I tend to focus on the scalp so maybe you should try that the next time you use it.
Check out the rest of the forum and do some research on a TON of products. Congrats on your recent endeavor in to the natural hair world!
1. I do an ayurvedic pre-shampoo oil massage (counteracts drying effects of any shampoo)
2. I dilute the champoo as it is very concentrated (a little goes a long way with all K-C products)
I find that using it occasionally really does help the application of the other products.
Congrats on beginning your natural journey. It is a bit of trial and error to find out what works for your hair - I hope you keep going and you find what works for you!

Anyway, if I remember correctly [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo-p-844.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo]Kinky-Curly Come Clean[/buylink] Shampoo is available at Whole Foods, so maybe if someone buys it there it can be returned. I don't know. I think BeautyFirst and Ulta take back products that have been used.

I agree that reviews are only marginally helpful regardless of how similar hair characteristics might be. It's also about expectations, and my hair expectations are probably different from most everyone else with my hair type. Most people with my hair type love products with oils. I HATE the texture of my hair with any amount of oil. In fact, most products that others love don't work for me and my hair...like [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] doesn't work for me anymore because it makes my hair spongy, much like oil. KBB is another favorite that is horrible on my hair. I can't imagine anyone wants their hair to feel that way. I like my hair to shine and move. I like some crunch, too.
I, too, tried [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] shampoo and it was horrible, drying. I didn't realize it was for clarifying.
Unfortunately there's a great deal of trial and error with curly hair products. I have a house FULL of hair products that I vacillate between loving and hating.

I did try their Spiral Spritz (bought it at Whole Foods) and really like it except for the lavender. I don't think too many peeps use it so I haven't gotten any feedback
I may still try the Curling Custard, but would like to know how others with finer or looser curls handled it.
Officially Transitioning since March 2011.

Got some kind of curly bangs going here! And I think my bangs are all natural!
I think that my natural hair is somewhere between a 3b and a 3c, I hope it's not too soon to tell! :blob4:
We don't use it anymore because I found an oily hair shampoo for much less that does an even better job without drying out our hair and has tea tree oil (I have dreads, so no having scalp itchies is kudos).
I like the Spiral Spritz a lot for frizz control and to layer on the Curling Custard when I use it on my daughters' hair, and I love Spiral Spritz by itself for my son's curls. But, I am not in love with its ho-hum scent.
My youngest has finer hair and I don't use much Curling Custard on her hair or it will feel extremely coated and stick together like it's pasted. Just small amount on her hair, but not the roots because it decreases her volume way too much.

In fact, just the opposite. It has stopped the itchy scalp, dry hair-hard to manage feelings. I have the complete system and my hair is soft, shiny, full, clean and full of curls. The system is doing just what it is suppose to do. I am a 3c/4a, fine, but thick hair.
I do a deep condition one a week with Extra-Virgin Coconut oil mixed with a little lavender/Olive Oil. I have been off of all chemicals for 2 years now. I spent those two years trimming split/dry ends and "healing" my hair and scalp. The only other system I have tried is the Curly Hair Solutions and I get the same results from that system also. I guess you have to keep trying till you find what works. I admit, I am lucky-I found two systems that work.

RE: User Ratings: One has to be careful. Even if one has the same hair type as another, a product that works successfully for one member of that hair type may not work as successfully for another member with the same hair type. Speaking of which, I personally find the marketing of products based on hair type to be somewhat silly, not to mention very confusing. To me, it's like saying that all members of a certain group behave the same.

Personally, I enjoy the research and product digging so maybe I could have caught something in the ingredients list to tip me off...but if I just wanted to find a moisturizing shampoo without all the extra I'd hope not to be deceived by false advertisement. It's great that KC wants to make a clarifying shampoo, I use one every few weeks. But for goodnesses sake! Don't call it something it's not!
