Hair length

How long do you think is too long when it comes to hair. I read something the other day where the columnist stated 'hair past the boobs is not sexy it's spooky'.

Just curious as to what others think.

I personally don't care for lengths longer than waist-length, but again that's just me. I know there are some people who have butt-length hair who have gorgeous hair, and I can't remember how long Rain's hair is, but hers is beautiful. I think most people can't carry it off though, because it just starts to drag down their whole look and starts to look 'heavy', if that makes any sense.

I know what you mean. As long as it's in good condition and not a ratty mess I guess really long hair can be good, it's just not for me though.

Hips--I used to have waist length hair although I was much shorter than most of you.

I think waist-long is too long. It's interesting that embudini chimed in, bc I know she is young. I think very long hair makes a lot of people look immature, so it often looks great on kids and teenagers, but not so good on adults.

Anything past the waist doesn't generally look good to me, unless you're five. I'm sure there are exceptions. I would personally never grow my hair longer than that.

I said hip-length... I've only seen a few people with hair that long, but the ends were so damaged and split it was kinda icky. But if someone can maintain healthy hair for that long, and it looks okay, I say go for it. But it is rather an odd thing to see. For me, I'd never want to have hair that I had to move so I didn't sit on it. :P

I think some of it depends on age and style but generally I think long hair should be kept BSL and not too much longer than that. It's very hard to do much of anything with it and tends to just hang. I think everyone's hair curly or straight needs to be styled somehow. I remember on What Not To Wear, Nick said that he thinks long hair should be kept at BSL. I think I agree.

I keep trying to grow mine to BSL but then my stylist wet cuts and it shrinks a couple of inches, but then I've noticed that it looks good at the length she cuts it to so she must know what she's doing. :D

If I could grow mine out I would donate it to locks of love. It's such a good cause! I met a curly girl whose hair was to her waist and she cut it all off and donated it. I thought that was really cool. 8)
My hair is a mix of 2b/3a and even a bit of 3b thrown in! I would call my hair wavycelli. It curls most when I leave it alone after wet scrunching. My hair has a spring factor of about 2 or 3 inches and has a very silky, medium texture.

I would say waist-length and beyond. Obviously it depends upon the person, and there are exceptions to every rule. I'm just not crazy about super-long hair, it looks... I don't know, just too inconvenient or something.

Anything past waist length is too long. After a point, long hair gets to be disgusting. In my opinion, after waist length, that's when long hair starts to look gross.

I'm going to agree with everyone else, that anything waist length and beyond gets kind of gross looking. I think anything beyond BSL is too long for most women. It does nothing for them, and just drags them down and makes them look out-of-touch with fashion/reality/good-taste.

I accidentally voted for shoulder length because I misread the question. I thought it was asking how long MY hair was instead of asking what length was too long. My hair is shoulder length and that's why I picked it. Whoops.

Waist length is the absolute limit IMO, I think around that point it starts looking less hygienic, whether the hair is in good condition or not. It can get to a point where the hair itself looks beautiful but it makes the wearer unattractive.

Even before it hits the waist, it can sometimes get to a point where you can see gravity making the person kinda tilt back.

On my head, I would say bra-strap length would be the limit, but as I get so much shrinkage my hair would probably be overlong if I straightened it, but the weight of the extra length would help "hold" my hair whilst curly.

I think waist length hair looks lovely but anything beyond that is generally too long to me. It also depends on what the ends look like. I can't stand scraggly, thin, dry ends at any length.

I don't really know why, but I don't care for hair beyond waistlength (no matter what age the person is). Maybe in the back of my mind I'm just thinking "Holy crap that would take a long time to wash and dry!"

I dunno. Somewhere along the line really long hair just gets icky to me. It turns from hair into just "growth".

    That's what I figure.

Awhile before my hair went curly-- aka, when I was in middle school-- I had hip-length hair. I could sit on it if I tilted my head backwards.

It was a bit inconvenient (yes, I did have to be a tiny bit careful when I went to the bathroom  ), but it was in good condition and I used to get lots of compliments. Everyone always either told me I should cut it, or that I shouldn't ever cut it.

To me, waist length hair is too long. Anything past mid-back is too long to me unless you're a 4 year old.

I guess it depends on the hair.

I've not gotten mine much past BSL. It just sort of stops there, or else I get tired of getting it caught in the car door and I cut it.

I have seen some pics of nice long hair on the Long Hair Community. But, in real life, all of the waist length and longer hair that I have seen is no longer attractive. It either has six inches of bad ends, or it just overpowers the wearer.

I recall a woman on WNTW that had long, long blonde hair. She refused to have it cut. It irked me as she was a self referral, but did not want to change much of anything. I think that there were plenty of others who would have been better served in that episode. Anyway, the first couple of feet of her hair looked great, but the last part just didn't look good. It was so long that it had no shape and no style.

As one whose curl gets less and less with length, I don't see how waist length and longer would flatter me, although it works for others.

I voted for hip length being too long, but it really depends on the person, their age, their body type, and their hair type. If that makes sense. I really want to get my hair to somewhere between bsl and hip length, but it's so short right now, I think it's going to take a few more years. (At this rate, by "a few more years" I REALLY mean like a million years  .)

I voted for hip length. Anything past waist length would be more "shocking" than "appealing" to me.
