Vegan Smoothie recipe - sounds UMMY

SystemSystem Posts: 39,060 Administrator
I found this on the back of the carton of chocolate Silk I just opened. It sounds yuuuummy. Basically in a blender you mix sliced frozen bananas, sliced frozen strawberries, and cold chocolate Silk. You could probably do it with vanilla silk too, I bet.
(Silk is a brand of soy milk, btw, and I can tell you the chocolate is really good.)

Any other smoothie recipes? Any we can bump up?

    3/4 cup orange juice
half of a sliced frozen banana
2-4 frozen strawberries [or blueberries, peaches, etc]
couple of tablespoons of yogurt [any fruit flavor] whir in the blender.

    1 cup milk [nonfat 1%, 2% whatever]
couple of tablespoons yogurt [vanilla, coffee flavor, etc]
    1/2 sliced frozen banana.
You can also add Hersheys chocolate powder [sweetened kind] you put in milk for a mocha or chocolate smoothie.

I don't measure anything, so these are guesstimates. Add more, or less, of any these ingredients to taste.

They don't have to be vegan, do they?

    1/2 cup skim milk
    1/2 banana
    about 3/4 cup frozen peaches
    about 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
(This one is very thick! Eat it with a spoon!)

    1 cup milk
    1/2 or a whole banana
2 tbsp. unsweetened or sweetened cocoa
(This one is really a shake, but it's delicious and pretty healthy, too!)

Is frozen fruit better for texture? I always use fresh fruit but my smoothies taste a bit (searching for word)...flat.

Anyhoo, love this flavor. Stole it from Freshens, they call it Orange Shooter.

    Orange juice
    Orange sherbet
    Lots of strawberries

I have yet to match the exact proportions of the Orange Shooter I pay $3.40 for, so best I can tell you is to mix to your liking.

I definitely think that frozen fruit is better.
When I buy bananas, I make sure that I buy two bunches; one for eating and one for freezing. I also either buy frozen strawberries or fresh ones and freeze them.
I think that frezzing the fruit makes the smoothie richer and creamier.

    Peach Vanilla Delite

frozen peaches (depends on how big a shake you want, I never measure)
    Vanilla soymilk
    frozen bananas
3 drops of GOOD vanilla extract
    a dash of cinnamon.

Sounds different but it is really yummy and vegan icon_smile.gif
