Re: Cosmetology schools teaching almost nothing about curly hair.
I moved from a very small town in Kentucky to Louisville a few years ago. Haircuts in my town generally cost around $15, so I was kind of in shock at the "city prices" being an average of $50 for a cut. A nearby town I work in generally costs around $25 for a cut. I don't have really any curly friends, so stylist recommendations aren't extremely helpful. To save money, I started getting my hair cut at the local cosmetology school. Bless their hearts. Each time I go I get deer-in-the-headlights looks from the students. Their instructors aren't much better. My hair is just wavy, and it's on the thicker side but not crazy thick. The last time I went, the instructor said, "With hair like this, you always want to thin it as much as possible." I nearly came out of the chair.
Re: What did you do to your hair today? April
I've switched back to using CJ Smoothing Lotion as my leave in. KCKT is great for a fantastic wash day, but it doesn't give me the moisture I need for longevity.
I was going to return DC ArcAngel gel after it didn't work out for me, but since Ulta is super out of the way for me, I haven't got to it. I am glad I didn't. I had a social event this weekend and wanted super curly hair so used that paired with KCKT and JC Rocking Ringlets. My hair turned out really great! But the ArcAngel, like the KCKT, don't prepare my hair for refresh days.
When I was researching ArcAngel a blogger compared it to an uncomfortable Stiletto. Something that leaves your hair really nice, but not what you want to use every day. KCKT/ArcAngel is my new hair Stiletto combo haha

Re: Curly/Wavies with a Mind of their Own
My left side is much loose than right, some day it's nearly straight. My solution is to flip my parting and use my right hair to cover up my left
so no one can see
So I'd the hair at the nape of my neck, so I covered it up too
now everything would look more uniform
I'm so good at covering things up, haha!

Re: Towels
I like to use flour sack towels. You should be able to find them in the kitchen towels area at Target. They're cheap and they work well. I feel the same about microfiber as @rabar. They were no improvement at all over terrycloth, plus they require special handling in the laundry (no fabric softener, hang to dry). I don't have time for that nonsense when it's just a towel.

Re: steaming hair with garment steamer?
@Starmie - when I first heard about the Redew I thought the exact same thing! Even though I've seen YouTube videos of people using it, I still feel like I'm being tricked because there is no way in hell my hair would ever react the same haha
Re: Judge a Product by Its Ingredients, Not Its Name. Week of February 25
I would like to say that I didn’t cheat off of Guide. I wrote my own answer before reading hers. Haha.
Re: Affordable product recs for 2b hair?
I'm still figuring out my porosity (the quiz says high, but the float test says low? It's definitely frizzy), but I have medium thickness, and medium density hair. Would you recommend any of the lines over another for that?
Re: Need Gel Recommendations with Strict Parameters
@Therese1, you are very right! It does have protein. You would think as much as I read ingredients list while on the toilet, I would have noted that. For some reason, I thought it didn't. @tinksaysboo, sorry for trying to ruin your hair. It was an accident!
Re: Do You Ever Lie So You Can Spend Time Alone?
Me: Can't. Washing my hair that day.
